RECORD RUMBLEPrivacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-07-01

Record Rumble is designed to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what data touches the app and what does not.

Short version

What we handle

Display names. When you join a game, you enter a name (e.g. "Sam"). That name is broadcast to the other people in the same room so they can see who buzzed, who's winning, etc. The name is stored only for the room's lifetime.

Game events. Buzzes, year guesses, score deltas — the minimum needed for the game to run. These are transmitted over an encrypted WebSocket connection to our server (Fly.io, region iad) and processed in memory.

On-device session tokens. When you host or join a game on iPhone, the app stores a short random token in the device's own iOS UserDefaults so that if the app is force-quit or the phone goes to sleep, you can rejoin the same room. The token is never transmitted anywhere except back to the same server for reclaim, and it's cleared when you leave a game or when a game ends.

Server logs. Our game server logs error events (e.g. malformed messages, disconnects) for debugging purposes. Logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days.

What we do NOT collect

Third-party services we use

Children

Record Rumble is a party game suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app collects no personal information beyond a chosen display name, we believe this is compliant with COPPA (US) and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.

Your rights

Since we don't build user profiles, there's very little to request. If you're in the EU/UK, you have the right to ask us to confirm what data we hold about you (typically: none, unless you're currently in a game). Contact us at the address below.

Changes

If we materially change what data we handle (for example, adding analytics), we'll update this page and roll the "effective date." Old policies will remain accessible on GitHub for reference.
